Postnatal Yoga Certificate

The Postnatal Yoga Certificate Course will be offered as a purely Online training. Online sessions will be streamed over Zoom. Gisela teaches the training in English, but speaks and understands German well. Those who wish to do their coursework in German are welcome to do so.

We require a minimum of 6 and can take a maximum of 16 participants. The maximum number of in-person participants will be determined according to the Federal Office of Health regulations at the time.

Birthlight Postnatal Yoga

Birthlight offers original adaptations of classic yoga practices for women from pre-conception through to the postnatal year. Yoga is deployed holistically to enhance women’s body/mind transformation throughout maternity. Nurture, calm strength and balance are our priorities.

The Postnatal Yoga Certificate covers the postpartum and early postnatal period through to the end of the postnatal year. Holistic adaptations of yoga at this pivotal time support mother-baby bonding and promote women’s long-term health and well-being. The course includes:

  • The benefits of postnatal yoga

  • Yoga philosophy for the transition to motherhood

  • Fundamentals of postnatal specific anatomy

  • Fundamentals of physiology

  • Asana modifications, variations and adjustments

  • Relaxation and breathing exercises for childbirth recovery and beyond

  • Use of props, safety guidelines, do’s and dont's

Gisela began teaching Prenatal Yoga in 2005. Becoming pregnant herself a couple of years later allowed her to experience firsthand the profound effects of the Birthlight approach. After certifying in Perinatal Yoga in 2009, she went on to certify in Postnatal and Well Woman Yoga as well as Nurturing Baby Massage and Baby Yoga.

Gisela has been training teachers in Perinatal Yoga since 2016 and is the Birthlight Training Coordinator for Switzerland. She is a certified childbirth Doula and mother to two teenies. She has had the pleasure of sharing Birthlight Yoga with mothers and families in Zürich for over 15 years. She continues to offer weekly classes in Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga, Baby Massage and Baby Yoga.
